Steele's POV
I have been a fool, made mistakes; Monumental ones. I have thought long and hard since The Wolfdog..Since Balto saved Nome. I have always been a proud Malamute and lead dog. I see now I was too proud, too arrogant, too selfish to accept help. From My own team, from Balto. I see now what Jenna always saw, what all of Nome now sees Balto as. Like his Goose said, Balto is not a dog, not a wolf, but a hero. Not the Hero Nome wanted, but the one it..they..We needed and deserved.
Before I realized this, I set out on a lone search for the missing Pilot Duke, I hoped that if I brought him back alive my self I would be hailed as a hero as well. Balto also went to rescue him, but for less..Selfish reasons.
Just like with the Serum, My Pride and twisted Arrogance almost cost me my life, as well as Balto's. All he had to do to save himself was to let me go, let me die. And yet he refused. He saved us both, and we returned as heros, and as friends.
