Endless Night
I am Aniu
Today was a tragic day for the pack
On this day, the first of my litter of pups, Balto, was lost
We had a horrid blizzard
The winds and snow came upon us so fast
We could only run quickly
However, even that was not enough
Balto got lost
We searched and searched, but he was not found
I can only hope that he is still alive
Now, I weep as Samson and the pups try to comfort me
It is not working
Tonight is the first of an endless night
Balto, if you are still alive, know that I love you
Oh how I wish you could be with me again
You will always be in my heart and I will always be in yours
Remember, you carry a proud heritage
It is the heritage of the wolf
