For The Love Of A Tiger Girl
It was the weekend. Po and Tigress sat by the stream outside the village, enjoying each other's company. Though Po was only eighteen and Tigress only seventeen, it was obvious that they both held a great affection for each other. At that moment, Tigress looked at Po.
"Hey panda," Tigress began, using her nickname for Po.
"Yes, Tigress?" Po answered.
"My dad is throwing his annual party in honor of Master Oogway. He wants me there, and I was wondering would you be my date to the event?" the beautiful striped feline said.
Po looked at her.
"But you've never had to go to that before," the panda replied.
"That was when I was little. However, now he says that it's time I start going since I'm not a cub anymore. I get the feeling that he just wants to show me off," Tigress said.
"Well, why shouldn't he want to? You're the most beautiful girl in town, the one every dad would be proud to have," Po told her.
Tigress chuckled a bit.
"I want to be remembered for my Kung Fu as well," she answered.
"Well, I'll always remember you for that," Po stated.
"So, will you go with me?" Tigress continued.
Po was suddenly nervous.
"Uh…I've never been to something like that before," he told her.
Tigress smiled.
"Come on. I'll be there with you," she said gently.
Po was still unsure.
"Ok, I'll go," he replied.
"Great," Tigress answered.
She then told him when the event was happening. They then returned to the Jade Palace. After dinner, they said their good nights and headed for their individual rooms. However, Tigress was called to Shifu's room. Her father seemed excited.
"Dad, what is it?" she asked.
"I have a gift for you," Shifu began.
Tigress smiled.
"What?" she replied.
Shifu pointed to a box on the bed. Tigress went over and opened it, revealing a beautiful pink and gold gown. Upon seeing it, she had to chuckle. From the time she was a cub to about age fourteen, she had absolutely loathed the color. Now, it didn't bother her much.
"It's beautiful," Tigress stated.
"Thank you," Shifu answered.
It was then that her conversation with Po came to her once more.
"Dad, can I ask you something?" Tigress began.
"Yes, my daughter, what is it?" Shifu said.
"Why are you asking me to go to this party now?" Tigress continued.
"Because I'm proud of you," Shifu stated.
"So you do just want to show me off," Tigress replied.
"Yes, because you've become such a lovely young lady," Shifu responded.
Tigress looked at him.
"I knew it had something to do with my looks," she answered.
"A father has the right to be proud of his daughter," Shifu stated.
"I want to be known for other things, like my Kung Fu," Tigress said.
"Very well, I will be sure to mention that. You are doing exceedingly well," the Red panda replied.
"Thanks Dad," Tigress responded.
"You're welcome, dear daughter," Shifu replied.
And with that, Tigress left to go to bed. The next day, she met Viper as she was heading to the kitchen with Song.
"So, you excited about the party?" Viper began.
"Yes. I just got my gown, and Po is going to be my date, of course," Tigress replied.
"Should be fun," Song said.
"I don't know. Po was pretty nervous when I asked him," Tigress responded.
"Oh, he'll be fine. He always is," the pretty Clouded leopard stated.
"I guess you're right," Tigress said.
When they arrived in the kitchen, Po came on the scene.
"Good morning," he began.
"Good morning, panda," Tigress replied.
"So, what are you going to do today?" Viper asked.
"I'm going to go find a robe to wear to the event," the panda told her.
"Ok. Hope you find a nice one," the snake said.
"I hope so too. I'm really nervous," Po continued.
"Come on, Po. It's just a party," Tigress told him.
"Yeah, but a party of the great Kung Fu masters of China," Po protested.
"I'll be right there with you," Tigress responded.
Po sighed.
"I guess you're right," he answered.
Song smiled.
"You two are going to be such a cute couple," she said.
"I hope so," Po replied.
"Well, I know so," Viper answered.
"Good to know that you have such high hopes. I fear that I'll screw up and Master Shifu will be mad. Then I'll have to break up with Tigress," Po continued.
Tigress sighed.
"Po, you're worrying too much. My dad isn't that cruel," she stated.
Po finally dropped it. After breakfast, Po left to go and find his robe. After searching most of the morning, he found it. It was red. He returned to the Jade Palace. As he was laying out the garment, Viper entered.
"Wow, that's nice," she said upon seeing the robe.
"Yeah. I'm trying to make a good impression," Po replied.
Viper smiled.
"I think everything's going to go well," the snake stated.
And so, the last couple of days passed. Finally, the day of the party arrived. At the proper time, Shifu left to greet the Kung Fu masters who would be attending. At the same time, Tigress was getting dressed. Mei Ling, who was already in her gown, looked at her. She then had Tigress kneel down. When she had done so, the female Mountain cat clipped a matching lotus flower to her charge's ear.
"Oh, you look so beautiful. Po's going to love you in this!" she exclaimed.
"Thank you," Tigress replied.
And so, they left. It was then that Tigress saw Po in his robe for the first time.
"Hello handsome," she began.
"You look nice," Po said nervously.
"Thanks," the beautiful feline replied.
And so, they headed to the party. At the site, Master Oogway sat at the place of honor as the party was getting underway. Shifu was currently speaking to two other masters, one a Clouded leopard and the other a rabbit, each from neighboring villages several miles from the Valley of Peace.
"My daughter should be here soon. She's an absolute beauty, and a brilliant fighter," Shifu said.
"From the way you talk of her, she must be beautiful indeed," the Clouded leopard replied.
"Is she coming with anybody?" the rabbit asked.
"Yes, her boyfriend. Another of my students," Shifu said.
The talk continued. Po, Tigress and Mei Ling arrived.
"All right, what now?" Po asked.
"Well, I guess we should go and pay our respects to Master Oogway," Mei Ling stated.
They went over to do so.
"Honor to you, Master Oogway," she began.
The tortoise acknowledged her.
"Thank you, dear Mei Ling," he replied.
After paying their respects, Po and Tigress separated. After they ate, Tigress looked at Po.
"The band is going to start up in a moment. You want to dance?" she asked.
Po became nervous again.
"Uh, no," Po replied.
"And why not?" Tigress asked.
"Because I don't want to step on your feet or tail," the panda stated.
Tigress took Po's hand and stood up. Po stood as well.
"Come, panda," she said.
Tigress then pulled Po onto the dance floor with her just as the music began.
"I can't do this," Po said.
"Just enjoy the music," Tigress replied.
And so, Po resolved to do just that. He actually enjoyed it. Shifu watched proudly.
"See, they have a great love for each other," he said to his friends.
After dancing for awhile, Po and Tigress excused themselves and went and sat together in the garden.
"See, it wasn't that bad, was it?" Tigress asked playfully.
"No, it wasn't," Po replied.
Tigress looked flirtatiously at Po. They came closer to each other, until, finally, they shared a kiss. Both enjoyed it. When it was over, they looked at each other.
"I've had a great night," Tigress stated.
"I think that you're great," Po answered.
Tigress smiled.
"You're totally awesome," she stated, using the phrase Po often used.
And with that, they sat and looked at the moon together.
