You Don't Have To Be A Hero
It had been a few days since Po, Tigress and the others had returned from the final battle against Lord Shen. Po and Tigress had been happy to return to their two beloved 5-year old twin daughters, the white tigress Mei-Lin and the panda Huan Ning. Upon hearing the account, Mei and Huan had been overjoyed and began to revere their parents even more, believing them to be the greatest heroes China had ever seen. Now, late one night, Po stood on the balcony outside his and Tigress' bedroom, thinking of how to tell them that he and Tigress were just like everyone else. It was then that Tigress came out.
"Po, it's late. Aren't you coming to bed?" she said.
Po sighed.
"You've seen how Mei and Huan are looking up to us. They say we're the greatest heroes in all China. I feel pressure to live up to that," he said.
Tigress came up and hugged him tightly, then put a gentle paw on his face.
*Tigress smiles and begins to sing*
Tigress:
You don't have to be a hero, you just have to be there
They don't need to know you're perfect, they need to know you care
And when the race is over, you've done all you can do
Be a father, not a hero, that's all they need from you
You don't have to be a winner, if you give it your best
Believe in who you are, and then time can do the rest
Your heart is their example, brave, and strong and true
You don't have to be a hero, you just have to be you
*Images of Mei and Huan as newborns flash through Po's mind. He smiles*
Trust in your daughters, they're more than they seem
Like you, they can fight
Like you, they have dreams
Whatever happens, Po, you'll always be their hero
Have faith in yourself, my love, have faith in them too
They will always have a hero
They will always have a hero
For they'll always have you
*As the song ends, Po heads towards the door*
"Thank you, Tigress…for making me the happiest panda on earth," Po said.
"And the same to you, my love," Tigress replied.
And so, they headed back inside paw-in-paw.
